THE RE-INCARNATED KITTY PARTY

Not so long ago, kitty parties were just sniggered at, considered to be the domain of middle- aged saree clad aunties who got together to gossip over lunch at a dainty neighborhood restaurant. The youngsters used to laugh at such sedate behavior by 40 something aunties who seemed to have nothing better to do than discuss the antics of their mother in laws!



The entire idea of a kitty has taken a fabulous makeover. It is now a get together for the rich,happening young crowd including late- twenties or thirty something homemakers,corporates and even their husbands. Often held at five-star ballrooms, weekend getaways or swanky lounges, they have huge budgets, elaborate set-ups and lots of excitement.

The basic fundamental of the kitty,which was the contribution by each member, has also gone up considerably. From a meagre 2-4 thousand bucks, members dole out cash upto Rs 1 lacs per person!
Again it is due to the changing lifestyles and incomes of people that such a modest little aunty party has reached  a mammoth scale.
 
Sushi demos, ramp walks, make -up tips, health expert visits, (even strippers! ) have become a part of these so called kitties, and the moolah just doesn't stop. Event managers have started organising and treating these kitties as  top priority events, so one can fathom the kind of affair that it has become.

Coming to the fashion part, well,  gone are the bright sarees or churidaar suits and goggles on the head. Ladies are now decked in the latest designer wear, they flaunt high end designer handbags, sip wine and discuss the World economy.

With the husbands also joining in , kittes are  now party grounds doubling as networking grounds. They are happy spending time and money with their wives, viewing it as just another way to have a good time and create networks.

From long gowns to short cocktail dresses,complete with perfect accessories, the style statement by the ladies is absolutely no less than a runway do.The glamor quotient is high,the ambiance is enviable ,the grandeur is mind boggling.
