ANUPAMAA DAYAL'S SENSATIONAL AIFWSS 16 SHOWCASE

She is eclectic, experimental, bohemian at heart and yet super sophisticated. She is Anupamaa Dayal. And her recent showcase at the AIFWSS16 reaffirms our belief in her spirit and her style. Its as lively and timeless as can be! Anupamaa's MAJULA was an ode to her mother,a very vivacious mother seemingly! The bright hues shined  brighter and the silhouettes draped in true resort wear meets Red Carpet style! Totally droolworthy! 

 

 "It’s hard for me to write this note. How do I even start to describe her.The magnificence of her spirit. The largesse, the generosity, the lust for life, the talent..the embarrassingly loud laughter. Her amusement with my smaller, simpler ways. My cooking so balanced , healthy and tasty could always do with a pinch of  reckless living. The men i choose always just a little ‘effeminate’.. My parenting a bit too perfect..." now chill and enjoy the kids" My work in her eyes expressed just a tiny bit of my vast unsurpassable spirit. More, more, more. Less caution, more extravagance, less being nice nice ..more adventure. Less fear...more fun !

So Ma, in this body of work I tried to pull out some of the stops. More is more. I can’t be you Ma, but i will be more of myself."

The words resonate loud and clear in her collection. The prints, the embellishments and most importantly the drapes were FUN, CAREFREE and very very relaxed. So we saw a lot of kaftans, off shoulders, shirt dresses and scarves. She let the spirit flow free as the scarves seemed draped spectacularly as dresses and the shirts teamed up with cool dhoti pants. 

The gypsy element was added with lots of tassels and florals. There was a riot of colors on the runway and yet it was all extremely wearable as it was cheerful. Interestingly, she used Eco friendly and recyclable jewelry and accessories to accentuate her outfits!

There was more ANUPAMAA in each clothing, in each garment that she had put together for Spring. There was less structure and more spirit. Just the kind of outfits you need when you feel like letting go! And the beautiful lively prints, the stripes and the block printing was all brought together in perfect symphony of contemporary and traditional. So while there were paisleys stripes, there were also some unseen floral and geometric elements. And everything was just so full of life, like the bubbly designer herself.

 

Expect your season to be more colorful and vivacious as you step it up in an ANUPAMAA DAYAL. Couldn't be better! Deservingly, One of the most adorable collections that I witnessed at the AMAZON INDIA FASHION WEEK SS'16.
